Kawaii

You’re invited to our next Re-Ment Fan Club meeting celebrating all things Kawaii!

Kawaii means “cute” in Japanese. We will have a Japanese theme for this meeting!

The event will be held on Saturday, October 8th from 4pm to 7pm in Los Angeles. It is free.

This is a special Re-Ment Fan Club meeting as we welcome our special guest Rachael from Shanghai who is a huge Re-Ment Fan and belongs to the Re-Ment Addicts Flickr Group!

Here is what is planned:

1. The Latest Re-Ment! Our friends from Sugoi Life, the US distributor of Re-Ment, will share the newest releases with us.

2. A Re-Ment Craft Project! We will have a fun and easy craft project courtesy of Lene!

3. Playing with Re-Ment. Our Re-Ment Addict friend Caroline Swing will be coming in from Phoenix to give us a lesson on how to repaint Re-Ment.

4. Show and Tell. Bring new, unusual, limited edition or creative Re-Ment to share with the group. There will be some ultra rare Re-Ment items shown!

5. Competition. This is for fun and for prizes! There will be two competitions so that everyone can participate!

The theme is: Kawaii!

The Small Competition is any small Re-Ment item. It can be a bakery case, café table, cupboard, dining room set, refrigerator, small kitchen or kotatsu. Decorate/embellish your small Re-Ment item with other Re-Ment items to the theme to create a miniature Kawaii statement! The best use of Re-Ment to the theme is the judging criteria.

The Big Competition is a Re-Ment display contest. It can be a Re-Ment Room Box, Re-Ment Truck or your own diorama display. The judging criteria is best use of Re-Ment to the theme.

You are welcome to use non-Re-Ment items in your competition pieces, just remember that the judging is based upon best use or Re-Ment to the theme.

6. Re-Ment Swaparama. We’ll have a table for you to put out your duplicate Re-Ment or Re-Ment you are tired of (can that happen?). Put your name on it so people can find you and offer something to trade. Or, browse the Swaparama table and offer something to the person who has what you want!

7. Re-Ment for sale! There will be loads of Re-Ment available for sale in full sets at reasonable prices and individual boxes marked so you can know what is inside. The NRFB Queen, Priscilla Wardlow will be there!

8. Raffle! Win a raffle prize! Every attendee will get free raffle tickets to win some Re-Ment related prizes.

There will be other goodies and surprises!

Re-Ment Fan Club Meeting

NEW LOCATION!

Citibank Community Room

Citbank – Los Angeles – Silverlake Branch

2450 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, 90039

This is the community room at my local bank. There is basically a meeting room and restrooms at this location. A light dinner will be served and please feel free to bring your own snack or drinks to get you through the Fan Club Meeting.

We have a different meeting time due to the bank being open until 3pm and also coordinating the various schedules of our out of town members.

The cost for the Re-Ment Fan Club meeting is free!

RSVPs are required to attend the Re-Ment Fan Club meeting portion of the afternoon and we do usually sell out so RSVP early in order to get a space!

To RSVP send your Name and e-mail address to robinfgee@yahoo.com by no later than October 1st. In addition, a $10 deposit is requested to secure your space. It will be refunded to you in cash at the door. If you do not show up or cancel, you will forfeit your $10. Please PayPal $10 to robinfgee@yahoo.com.

Everything is donated by myself and others, including sponsors. I want every seat to be filled with a genuine Re-Ment Fan. Therefore, please do not RSVP for people who are not Re-Ment Fans, i.e. friends, boyfriends, mothers, etc.

Space is limited and we will be using every chair for a Re-Ment Fan so extra people are requested to not attend the meeting. This event is not open to the public.

As you may know, at the last Re-Ment Fan Club meeting we gave out the last of the fan goodies given to me by Re-Ment before they left the United States.  There will still be some great goodies and prizes, however the purple fridges, white dining room sets and Happy Birthday sets are all gone and in the hands of fans.

The RSVP is required so we can make sure we have enough seating, goodies, etc. for everyone. Please RSVP or ask any questions to me, Robin Gee, robinfgee@yahoo.com.

I am an avid Re-Ment Collector who was inspired to put together a Re-Ment Fan Club so we can share our enthusiasm and affection for Re-Ment!

Come for fun, activities and meeting others who are Re-Ment enthusiasts! I look forward to seeing you!

Thoughts on the state of Re-Ment

Hi Everyone,

I hope you have enjoyed my recap of my trip to Japan last year in April 2010. It was at a time when the Disney had already come in and the Sanrio had just started. The Re-Ment designers were really heartened to hear about the Re-Ment fans and how we all liked the original Re-Ment designs that are not character based. They had never seen so much done with their work — jewelry, cakes, buttons, shirts and more!

Our beloved Re-Ment seems to now have gone in another direction much to our sadness. I don’t know that those of us who love the original Re-Ment can make any impact on the future. We can try, however, to make our comments heard.

Here is the e-mail of  someone in the sales department at Re-Ment who can respond to our e-mails in English. One of our Re-Ment Addicts has e-mailed them and gotten a response in English that promised to share our concerns with Re-Ment colleagues. I think our best bet is to be polite and not be rude or complaining. We should just mention that we miss the older sets that were original designs and we would like to see more. We don’t want them to be angry at us or to feel embarrassed by us.

Shall we give it a try? Will you join me?

Please send your e-mail to:
